One Gender School: Old Fashion Thought

The school is a small society, and students learn many things. Not only does it study, but endurance, socialize, friendship, and learn about others. However, no society is composed of only one gender. Schools with one gender are bound to have a finite experience compared to a school consisting of females and males. Also, schools with one gender lost the purpose of constructing schools when they were built. According to time changes, schools that are dominated by conservative and male-dominated thinking are no longer subject to a single gender school. Therefore, people should not build schools which consist of one-gender-students because the school limits the students ' experiences and the school’s a building intention vanished long ago.

    Schools are places where students offer various experiences or methods before embarking on society in earnest. In particular, a university is a place where students prepare for society and experience themselves in addition to studying about academics. But in schools with only women, the ability to adapt to society with men is less adaptable. Of course, students who attend woman’s school can adapt to a real society which real males exist by doing a part-time job or exterior activity. However, many people who are already accustomed to living with the only woman feel uncomfortable with the only fact that the opposite sex’s existence. There’s no reason to make school consisting of one gender over making students feel uncomfortable.

    Woman’s university built because of discrimination against women. Women have had fewer opportunities to learn women than men because of the male-dominated thinking in the past. At that time, women were not regarded as objects of education. However, current government policies and attention about education have allowed them to receive an equal education without distinction of gender. Nowadays, the reason for the construction of the women's university is missing. Also, modern age faces of strong support for gender equality. In this era, universities are considered to be reverse discrimination against men. Women's university, which built equal opportunities for equal education, has become a barrier to male and female’s equality.

    Except for woman’s university, there are many schools in Korea that consist of one gender. There is girl’s middle school, girl’s high school, boy’s middle school, boy’s high school. The Confucian thought that the men and women are not together is not good enough make one gender schools. However, such thoughts have long been lost in modern times. Therefore there is no reason to embrace the outdated belief. Today, people shout out embrace the world of variation civilization, globalization, and gender equality. By the way, woman’s university of purpose was different.

    Of course, in one gender school could make gender equality about student’s score. For example, many people who think that man are better at handling math. Or people think woman are better at empathy skill. Even if such thoughts are prejudices, there must be a person who has such thought, and men or women who want to get what they want should be crossed that prejudices. However, students who live in a school composed of one gender will first suffer from such prejudice at real society. Students suddenly meet barriers to coping with ways. On the other hand, a student who lives in a school with both men and women can figure out how to recognize such prejudice in school and devise other ways to overcome it. Someone who spent her school life in girl’s middle school, girl’s high school and woman’s university get trouble with a relationship with males. She doesn’t know how to make a relationship with another gender. Even though she has grown up, she is afraid to communicate with other genders in the adult world. ‘She’ mentioned here is a real being, not a fictitious figure. A school consisting of one gender is not only about her school days, but also her life. These schools, which began in the outdated mindset, will only hurt students in modern society. In a new era, it is time to abandon education systems such as a single gender school.
